I go slightly feral over how much Merlin and Arthur love each other. It’s something I don’t think I could ever be normal about

Merlin loves Arthur like it’s the only thing he has. Like, not only would he sacrifice his own life, gladly, happily, easily, to keep Arthur alive and happy, but he’s also willing to sacrifice anyone else too, his own people, Camelot, anything. Because Arthur is the most important and special and wonderful thing in the entire world. He loves Arthur to the point of destruction. It’s the kind of love that says, I will burn the world down for you, without thought, without regret, because you are my everything.

But Arthur, I like to imagine that Arthur loves Merlin to the point of creation. If he found out about Merlin’s magic, all he would want (maybe after some anger) would be to create a world where Merlin can be free. Free and safe and acknowledged for all he has done for Arthur. Because Merlin is kind and wise and funny and he makes Arthur want to be a better person. It’s the kind of love that says, I will create a better world for you, I will make a world that deserves you, because you are my everything.

I suppose they really are just two sides of the same coin

'Can 2 men not just be friends?'

Sure they can, infact it's rude to assume they're anything more than that if they're real-life people. Of course, just because it's rude doesn't mean your wrong but as my dad (and lots of other people I'm sure) likes to say, 'assuming makes an ass out of you and me'.

However if the 2 men in this situation are fictional then them just being friends is entirely up to interpretation.

A straight person might just see them as friends because it's content and we all like to see content that represents us -even if they already have abundances of it.

And a queer person might see them as potential lovers, both due to being more open-minded to something like that and because, as I previously said, people like to be represented.

Now I don't mean to say straight people aren't open minded because, fact is, your sexuality does not define how open you are to things. All I'm saying is a queer person is more likely to already be open-minded due to having to realise their sexuality is different from the perceived 'normal' and having to be accepting of it.

So in conclusion, yeah 2 guys can absolutely only be best pals but that might just be how only you see it, and maybe there's something you need to look deeper into if you're getting upset at people interpreting the relationship of 2 fictional guys as romantic.

"So...should we go through the gate?" Merlin asked Morgana, his eyes focused on the magical energy pulsing from it as if wanting to grab him close.

'Yeah. I definitely don't trust that.'

Morgana frowned as she looked behind them, the entrance they came through was blocked and didn't seem like it would budge. She turned back to the gate, eyeing it warily.

"I don't think we have a choice." Her jaw clenched. Her mind running with many possible scenarios of why this would be a terrible idea.

It still surprised her that the Triple Goddess appeared before them after all these years although judging by Merlin's expression it probably wasn't his first time meeting the deity. Sounds like an interesting story she'd ask Merlin later.

"No. It seems we don't." Merlin spoke softly, letting out a sigh he brushed a stray lock aside his gaze unwavering.

"We could end up somewhere we've never been before."

"True." Morgana agreed, a thoughtful look upon her face. "Yet this may lead to the answers we're looking for as to why magic is fading from this world."

"And why I'm wearing a dress in that vision."

Morgana gave Merlin the side-eye.

"What? It's a legitimate question!"

Morgana raised an eyebrow, "Seriously?"

Merlin glares half-heartedly at his friend. "Yes. Seriously." He crossed his arms against his chest, once again pouting.

"You looked like a knight but, I on the other hand looked like a innocent maiden!"

"A pretty princess more like it." Morgana snorted, her lips formed into a smirk. "After all, you were wearing a crown, your majesty."

"Ugghhh, stop. You're reminding me when I had to roleplay with you at that kinky club you frequent."

Morgana grinned, flipping her hair back.

"You were so cute. The doms there absolutely loved you they kept asking me when you'll be free." Oozing smugness she continued, "I could see the jealousy in their gazes, quite amusing."

Merlin rolled his eyes, a slight smile on his face.

I wasn't going to do gwencelot in my "Post return but with King Regent Merlin" because I wanted to explore gwen feeling on Arthur and Lancelot while she lived most of her life without them and married Leon but now that I think about it.

Like Gwen/Leon/Lancelot could be quite a funny ship lmao Like, yeah Arthur is getting with that old man (Merlin), Gwaine is thirsty over his old man (Perceval, maybe idk yet) but here you have Lancelot who sandwiched between two older (like 80 years old in mind) people sjdbshsbvs oh he is NOT coming out of that bedroom in one piece.

Not me having 3 WIP's and still wanting to write a merthur fic exploring Merlin's shape shifting in a gender exploration, with Arthur coming to accept himself as bisexual and attracted to Merlin despite his gender or genitals (as in, they keep changing).

Also, maybe an exploration of Merlin as "Magic incarnate" and the goddess of magic being 3 phases of womanhood and the moon. Can you imagine if Merlin has to deal with periods and their impact on his/their magic? How the only person he could talk to would be Morgana, and how that might give them a better understanding of her and the blatant misogyny of the times?

Imagine Merlin having to come to terms with the fact she can have children in that body, produce a new generation of Dragon Lords but also realizing that it means to be stuck in that form that might not feel like their true self in a day.

Imagine the simple fact Uther would try and imprison Merlin for that, sorcery against nature? And yet how could such change be against nature if Merlin's magic comes from nature it self?

People not wanting to be treated by Gaius and Merlin bc women aren't physicians, they shouldn't be allowed to learn that trade, as they have sensible dispositions.

Imagine how much Merlin and Gwen would bond after the first of the old nobles tries to cop a feel at a banquet or humiliate/punish Merlin for talking back to Arthur as they normally did when in their male body?

Imagine Arthur's realization of how much he himself was constantly using femininity as insults. Imagine him finding out how many of the nobles and knights (outside of the round table boy's) treat women servants as they please.

Just, I wanna explore those ideas and how they would affect the interaction with fate.
